THE SCHOOL
Bransgore CE Primary School is based in the village of Bransgore, near The New Forest, Hampshire. The primary school has been enjoying the benefits of a full Google Chromebook system provided by Oakford Technology since 2015. The students make use of the Chromebooks for their entire IT curriculum, alongside a suite of iPads. Bransgore Primary is also part of the Oakford Internet Services Cloud School scheme, enabling the complete removal of any physical on-site servers, and instead hosting all of the school servers in the cloud in one of Oakford’s secure UK Datacentres.
ABOUT GOOGLE CHROMEBOOKS
Chromebooks are small laptops that run Google’s own operating system. The laptops are usually smaller and lighter than conventional Windows laptops, rendering them an excellent choice for primary school children. Chromebooks have been proven to be fantastic tools for education, to either replace or work alongside a suite of laptops or PCs. Active Directory can easily integrate with Chromebooks, allowing ease of access for the users.
BENEFITS OF CHROMEBOOKS
– More cost effective per unit in comparison to laptops.
– Fast start up times, reducing waiting time in lessons.
– Chromebooks can support Flash, unlike iPads.
– Ability to collaborate on a single document with multiple users at once thanks to Google Drive connection.
– All Chromebooks can be centrally managed from Google’s Cloud G Suite Management console.
